This spring Daniel will conduct performances of his compositions in Iceland and Norway with the Reykjavik and Vestby big bands.

Amazonas Jazz Festival

The festival is now finished.  with an outstanding performance by Eddie Palmieri in front of an enthusiastic crowd numbering around 5,000. My performance with the Banda Amazonas included my compositions Hello Bhudda, I Remember Clifford (arrangement), and Encontro das Aguas. The band was well rehearsed by Maestro Rui Carvalho and fellow guest soloist Altair Matins is just a monster of a trumpet player from Rui de Janiero. Fulbright Awarded to Seattle Composer

Daniel Barry's stellar work has been recognized with a Fulbright scholarship, allowing him to serve as composer-in-residence in the music department of the Universidade Estadual de Campinas near Sao Paulo in Brazil during 2011-20112. Barry says, 'This honor helps validate my work over the last two decades and also serves to perpetuate new efforts. The opportunity for an in depth exchange of musical ideas with master musicians from various regions of Brazil is about as good as it gets for me musically."
